Born in Turin on September 9, 1962, Marco De Benedetti received a degree in Economics from Wesleyan University of Middletown, Connecticut, USA in 1984 and subsequently, in 1987, a Master in Business Administration from the Wharton Business School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From 1998 to 2005 he held the post of Chief Executive Officer of TIM S.p.A. and from July to October 2005 was Chief Executive Officer of Telecom Italia S.p.A. Subsequently, since November 2005, he has been the Managing Director of The Carlyle Group. He currently holds the office of Director of CIR S.p.A. and GEDI Gruppo Editoriale S.p.A.
